Got killed
I was cruising down a 2 lane highway yesterday before my car club meet and I see a low red car coming up in the left lane. All I thought was there is no way this is what I think it is. As it pulls up next to me with blacked out windows my adrenaline started going into overdrive. It was a brand new Viper SRT-10 This would be the first race since the new tranny and Vig 3600 stall went in. We both hit it from 50 and it was dead even all the way up to 110 when he started to creep away from me. Common sense decides to kick in as I feel the car shift into 4th gear. I looked down as the speed-o passed 130 We were coming up to a stoplight that had just turned yellow. I decided to play it safe and shut down to make the light. When I shut down he had 2-3 cars on me, and he blew the light bad. I barely made it. I am very impressed with how the car responds now The other night I put it to the floor at 60 and broke the tires loose
One loss I don't mind at all

at least you made a runof it. once you get up to speeds like that it is all about who has the most power. just cause he can beat you at post 1/4mile speeds doesn't mean he can touch you from a dig.
later

Yes, but who cares you kept up with him for a while until he hit the power that his car was designed to run....I dont think you got killed at all. If anything he got owned cause he thought he was gonna have an easy run...
Keep up the good work!

Viper owners tend to be a little bit more on the ball then your average Vette driver, but the Viper is a monster to handle. Good high 11's to low 12's like James said.

Nice loss. It's not just power, it's also aero. I don't know about the newer vipers but from the looks of it they lowered their coefficient of drag. Before with their older models it was pathetically high, like barn door in the wind high.

I didnt think it was that high, considering that Chrysler spend as much as they wanted to to get that car perfect the first time out. Id be surprised if it was more then .29.

Older vipers had a CD around .42-.5 depending on if the top was on or off, .42 was the coupe. When I say older I'm only talking 2002.
To put that into comparison; Thirdgen camaro .34, C5 and C6 are .28, 2002 Ford mustang GT .36, Dodge Dakota club cab 4x4 .52 . In otherwords, if it weren't for the relatively low frontal SA the viper would need a lot more horespower than an f-body to reach X speed. And it does, look at the top speeds of the vipers compared to vehicles with less horsepower. I just did a google and found that the 2004 and newer vipers are getting to 190mph with 500hp, that means they've dramatically lowered the drag because that's exactly what the c6 z06 is doing with the same hp! Although the new viper is ugly as sin, give me an older one ANYDAY just not red with yellow 3-spoke wheels because WTF was that, a rolling McDonald's ad?

Nice run. Motor trend has the srt 10 @ 11:80@123.6. That's some nice MPH. I don't know what you run in the quarter but it must be pretty quick.Last I saw in your sig was around 115 or so. I'm thinking that he didn't down shift into the right gear. No offence. From a roll @ 50 he should be in second and with a 123 trap speed that thing would of left you.

I used to feel the same way about the new viper's looks, but its deffinatly grown on me. I like it a whole lot, but I gotta say that the previous body style is still more attractive.
And that is an impressive hang with the viper, I'd be almost ashamed of myself if i were the viper owner......you'd figure that if you just bought a really expencive car with 500hp, f-bodys wouldnt even be a blip on the radar anymore.

My fastest time was an 11.93 @ 116 with my old 212 cam. Now I have a 228/228 with a Vig 3600 stall convertor.

i've heard of the new vipers running loooow 12's, like 12.1's. i haven't heard of them breaking into the 11's (unlike a certain upcoming chevy car :cough: Z06 :cough: )
