Breaking News...
http://www.detnews.com/2005/autosins...A01-123402.htm
I haven't followed this too much, but I guess if they kill the Zeta platform there will not be a new F-body any time soon.

I think that would be the dumbest thing they could do...maybe its me but I dont see people buying more SUV's & Trucks unless gas prices come down some...if they keep going up and up people wont want any part of it IMHO

Not only making more trucks and SUV's but bigger trucks and SUV's. Man, GM is so far behind the curve in what's going on. That company will be lucky to survive if they don't pull their head out of their ars.

There is speculation that they could design a 5th gen off a modified version of the Sigma chassis. We'll see though

First off, Ragu is the Italian name for red sauce.
Second, the Zeta chassis has been canceled due to several reaons.
One big reason is that why have Zeta, spend the money and all that for a inferior chassis, when Sigma is already paid for?
Lutz is not in charge of GM, so dont sound stupid.
As for GM sucking, oh well. If sucking at what they did has made them #1 car maker in the world, then I guess they are good at sucking.
And the Neon is such a turd, that they replaced it with a little SUV.
GM's GMT900 trucks is what is important. Yeah, you might not want them, but people do. Ford's F150 sales shot up above record levels, Dodge's Ram is selling well, and the Titan is doing fantastic for being ugly as sin, even if the sales dont hold a candle to the Big 3. With Honda and Toyota jumping into the market. Trucks are big profit makers for GM, and more profit means more money for future cars.
GM not surviving will not come down to its product, cause its product is fine. Its legacy costs caused by the UAW that tacks on 2k to every single car they sell.

Trust me, kill Lutz and you kill any chance of anything even remotely cool to happen at GM.
And we at GMI dont have a mag...yet.
Lutz did not kill the Camaro or Firebird, so why kill him? Cause he is just someone to put the blame on? Why not kill Zarella who made the choice back in the 90's to stop funding?

apparently, the Zeta platform isn't dead yet. if you read the story, it says the program will be pushed back about a year or so. it's not dead, just delayed.

the cars on Zeta are canceled for now...Lutz even leaked it...but here is what he said in his blog.
Quote:
By Bob Lutz
GM Vice Chairman
Some news broke today about a reshuffling of our product plan, and I just want to clear one thing up before people get carried away.
Yes, we have canceled our plans to build rear-wheel-drive vehicles off the Zeta architecture. But that does not mean we've canceled plans to build rear-drive vehicles altogether.
We did not cancel the Zeta plans to save money, or to divert funds elsewhere that would've been used for product development.
We are simply reallocating resources (human and financial) to pull some other programs ahead and get other vehicles to market sooner. The press speculates this means we're doing it to get our next-generation large SUVs and pickups out sooner. You could see how one might reasonably come to such a conclusion.
Rest assured, we remain committed to developing RWD, premium,
high-performance, affordable vehicles, perhaps even a few with a trace of nostalgia baked in.

There is an update to that statement, here is a release from Bob Lutz, read the last line carefully although I think he is just blowing smoke now personally. Here is is off of GM fast lane....
Zeta Not the End of RWD Performance
