New car for me?

I read somewhere(I think MW) that the Shelby Cobra Mustang will clock in at about $35K, has anyone else read this? If so, the EVO is going away next year in favor of one of these!

yah thats what i heard...i dont see it happening though...a 4.6lt SC cobra went for 35-40k new...i doubt the 5.4lt SC shelby will go for anything less then the cobras did...id look more to the 40+ range more then likely...even at that though...it wouldnt be a bad deal i guess.

That would be a really good deal seeing how the factory GT is $27k and the 480HP Vortec Saleen is $48k.

i think if it really does come out at $35K, I'll do it. I could never afford a new f-body, but this 'stang might fill that void in my life.
Besides, wifey may get an AWD Mercedes, so there goes the need for me having an AWD car. As much fun, and as usefull as the Evo is, I miss RWD V8's.

You can afford $35k for a 'stang, but not whatever the new Camaro will be? (Most likely way cheaper than that)

If you really want to get back to v8/rwd, why not spend $15k and get a nice shape/low milage LS1 car?

I thought the quote for the price was "Under $40k, probably close to $39k". Cant recall if I read that in a press release, or heard at at the NYIAC.

not really that, having 350awhp running 12.1 suffices w/ the EVO(well I'm at 300awhp which puts me in the high 12's)...hell, I think the 05's are ugly...but I love that Shelby.

As far as the new Camaro, I dunno, I like Camaros, but I'm a Firebird guy. And we'll see if GM wakes up with the 5th gen.

I'm NOT a drag car, if I had wanted a drag car(this time around) I would've bought another RWD V8, I didn't, I bought a performance car that I could drive year round(even the months my formula would have to hibernate). Even then, I wouldn't drag it, it's an AutoX/Rally car.
I'm just saying 300awhp put EVO's at mid-high 12's, 350awhp is good for 12.1's.
chill man.

that, actually, I will be starting this summer as I got the car in Sept. The previous owner installed a BOV which is stupid for an EVO, it riches it up like a mofo and causes it to stall when you put your foot on the clutch and let the revs drop, so tomorrow, TurboTrix is putting in a Greddy Type-S BOV w/ recirculating flange. Also, the previous owner didn't get the boost gauge option(should be mandatory on all factory boosted cars IMO), so that, a voltometer, and oil pressure gauge will be going in next month. After that, I'll let you know. I actually wanna amateur rally it, but it's my only car so that won't be happening.

seeing that most 03-04 went for more then 35k I doubt the new cobra will go for anything under 40.

I would be surprised to see it at 35k. They did cheap out and use a live axle (wrong move IMO), and inside is very cheap, status quo for Mustang.
And yes...I have sat in the GT500.
Add to the fact that no Mustang is worth my hard earned cash, and Im walking over to Pontiac for a 05 GTO.

Hey...they did that so the rest of us would hate ford a little less. I only have 20 passes under my belt, but I have had to sit in the lanes waiting to move Cobras with busted half shafts on two separate occaisions. Until they can make an IRS that won't break as soon as you beat on it a bit, they should stick with the live axle.
