How long after a new paint job can you start to wax and polish or even use quick detail? I also need to get out swirl marks..any one know how, what product or where to go?

Im not sure at all but I would check with the shop/person who painted the car.
I am a Big fan of Mothers brand..
and the "swirl" marks you mentioned seems odd....should there be swirl marks on a new paint job?

its from drying the car......I hate it I have like 2 towls for the whole damn car cause my sisters an *******...

well anyway , I would wait until at least spring (keep it out of bad weather).
but you should ask the people/shop who painted it how long before applying a wax/polish.

Usually you dont want to even think about waxing a newly painted car for at least like 6 months, and i think like even washing it is like 3-4 months. You can hose it down and lightly wipe the water off with a very soft cloth, do not rub. When i had my monte painted, it was stored indoors and barely even touched for the first 4 months. And it even sat untouched in my neighbors garage for over 6 weeks while i was cleaning up my garage a little. It was painted in July and i still havent washed it, but it has been in the rain since November.

Not sure if I'll get thrown out for mentioning Zaino, but a) its a great polish
(not a wax), b) it works wonders in "removing" swirls by filling them in, and c) can be used on a new paint job within one month.

Most modern paints are hardened by catalysis. Paints that dry by evaporation of volatile compounds no longer meet EPA limits. Catalyzed paints are rock hard almost immediatey.

When I had the nose, hood and the tops of my fenders painted after the Ram Air hood install, Zaino was on there as soon as I brought the car home form the shop (maybe 2-3 weeks). It still looks like new, 5 years later.

With a modern day two stage paint that is baked in a booth after being sprayed you can probably do it immediately, however I would suggest giving it 2-3 months just so you're sure all of the reducers and basemakers have evaporated out. Wax will trap them in.

Wasn't sure... on fbody.com, Hogan has the software set up so you can not type "zaino".

my painter told me wait 6 months for wax and only wax 1-2 times a year depending if its kept in a garage or not...

swirl marks from drying...get mr clean auto dry...its wonderful..

get some microfiber cloths from the parts store

it takes a little bit of time, but it always leaves the paint soooo sexy.

for drying, I've found that the California (sp?) blade works great. They claim its less friction then a shammy? Or, what I've been doing is using the Mr. Clean detailing system. When done in the shade, it looks sooo good.
