All of the major antivirus companies have had patches out for ages to prevent you from even getting the virus. And for those of you who think they will be safe by just disconnecting from the internet for a day - what do you think the virus will do (if your computer is actually infected) when you re-connect on the 2nd? Whatever it didn't get to do on the 1st is my best guess.....

Unplug the network cables from your computers, disable the wireless connections, and spend the day working on local documents or revisiting your favorite pre-Internet games.
Yea, that won't work I hear. Conficker might open on April 1st, it might not. Conficker is connected to over 50,000 domains that each have separate instructions on how and when to open Conficker. Thus, Microsoft is having a hard time tracking down every domain and shutting it down.

Im fairly sure i have this virus. All my important files are getting copied onto a remote as i type. Virus can only travel in .exe files or internet extensions right? So i wont reinfect everything if i reinstall windows? all im copying is mostly mp3s and pictures(not those kind)

How do you know you have it? It should be completely dormant until sometime after midnight tonight, so you wouldn't see any signs of it unless a virus scan picked it up.
