need help overrideing the vats system on a 2001 s10

i need help overrideing the vats system o n my 2001 s10 someone tryed stealing it so they broke the whole steering column i just want to do a quick fix i need the truck to get around

get a digital voltmeter/ohmmeter touch the 2 ends to your resistor on your key. that will give you the resistance in ohms. then, go to radio shack, buy some resistors and make it so that your radio shack resistors = the key's resistance. next, take the lower dash cover off (the part over top of the pedals. look for a lil wiring harness that goes up to your ignition lock cylinder and disconnect it. plug your resistor into the wiring coming from the ECU side and youll be good to go! i did it in my 3rd gen and it works lol

theres no chip on my key it goes into a little box the wires and the box is broken who ever wanted to take my truck didnt know what to do so they broke everything and couldnt take it
