I would suggest getting out the tape measure and checking for your self. If it is indeed a bent wheel or axle, the wheel would wobble a bit, not site canted in as you drive.
Just look at matching...

The k-member placement and floor pans of all 4th gens are the same. As long as it is the correct y-pipe for the LS1 headers, there should not be any reason to weld the sections together.

I would not suggest "grinding" a wheel to make the hub fit. That requires actual machine work to be done properly and ensure that the wheel sits properly.
