Loosing at least 100 pounds while still maintaining some muscle/strength is gonna suck donkey balls.
I guess best of luck for trying..

Is that the stuff that BSN makes? Indeed it tastes awesome! My gf takes it and I always try to get some whenever she's around. The only downside is that it was 80 more calories per serving over ON Whey.. But it taste soooooo good.

Great stuff, even just the regular Whey Protein from Optimum Nutrition is great. Costs around $45.00 - $50.00 at GNC and VitaminShoppe for the big container... Go onto BodyBuilder.com for a discount. That mixed w/ NOXplode as my preworkout does it for me. Hope that helps man.

Designer Whey @ GNC. Mixes easily. You can add it with Oatmeal and make Protein Pancakes, milk for a milkshake, etc. http://www.gnc.com/family/index.jsp?...CDesigner+Whey

yeah, being in the military may be your dream but Iraq isnt fun no matter what way you spin it. i understand your passion because im a patriotic person as well but i dont want you to get the illusion that Iraq is a place to WANT to be.

+1. I think OP is over romanticizing war a little bit too much.
Have you ever spent time with a vet that was disabled, such as missing limbs or worse; being paralyzed from the waist or neck down. Trust me when I say this, it's nothing to be envious about. Being dead is not the worst thing that can happen to you, imo.
When my grandmother was a nurse, she used to watch over a gulf war vet. He was paralyzed from the neck down, and he lived like that for 10 or so year, she watched over him for several of those years. I can break down her day for you, but it won't be pretty, you just imagine laying in the same bed for 10 years without being able to move anything but your head, it's not pretty no matter what way you look at it. No one should go to war, there's nothing pretty or glamorous about it, nothing.

Dude, I'm a fairly broad guy, not too tall (5'11) but i'm 240. I was told a year ago by a nutristionist my sister was seeing that i should be taking in at least 3000 calories to maintain weight. Now i'm on a crew team, work out everyday and eat the same, i started dropping weight finally and still can't run well. The weight you put on your knees is bad, unless your really tall 320 lbs is now running condition. I have a friend whose 6'3 and 330 and he works out a good bit, but knows he really can't run much because it will ruin his knees. My advise is do low impact exercises for your body such as biking alot, aka, bike to asbury park, then up or down the coast and back, or go swimming, at least a solid hour per session. I swam for 12 years competitively and it is honestly one of the best workouts you can do, i haven't swam in a year, and its noticable when you get back in. Legs aren't as strong, backs not as strong. Bottom line is running is great but for bigger people its not good for your body, slim down and build more muscle before putting that kind of impact on your knees.
Also if your eating 5 meals a day, and only eating 1500 calories, thats 300 per meal so that's a glass of milk and like three pieces of meat with a slice of bread. Dude i doubt your daily intake is that low, i take in close to 1000 calories daily in fluids alone between Gatorade, milk, apple juice and the occasional soda. Just saying if you are that low its no bueno man.
Sorry if it came out harsh, but it was meant to be helpful, and comes from experience with weight man. Just trying to help you out.

well the good news is you have the mentality and drive to get to where you want to be regardless of your weight.
the bad news is theres a sheeeit ton of stuff to be learned about dieting lol. while billy is right, you do need more calories to maintain your weight and not go into starvation mode, that doesnt mean go to the nearest mcdonalds and gulp down big macs. i am no diet guru myself, i know basic things, but billy does always have good information so i would always take into account what he says.
but to answer your question about protein shakes..when i used to take them i used intrapro chocolate, you dont get a lot for what you pay but it tastes amazing. when i took a break from protein shakes i saw strength gains in pretty much all of my exercises lifting..so i question the fact if they even work..

Yea i have talked to Vets before one of them flew a Huey gun ship in vietnam. And i loved hearing his stories. And i'v talked to others and listend to there stories and i know this is what i want to do. Also my uncle was a marine never in a war but he did boot camp and all that fun stuff. He talked to me about how hard it was and said out of 10 its about a 7. So i know i have to get my body in Perfect shape.
