Princeton is not the place to mess with pedestrians. If they are in a crosswalk, you better damn well make sure you are stopped in plenty of time. If they aren't, they better hope that the cops are busy dealing with drivers who didn't stop for someone in a crosswalk.

Screw them. Life is like that crazy taxi driver game. If they can't take the heat, stay out of the street!

Actually, I try to very conscientious. I can’t afford to kill someone. I crawl through neighborhoods. I think it has to do with having kids. It changes your perspective a bit. I became that guy who yells at people speeding down the street. I also shot a street hockey ball at a kid once. But my neighbor (Trenton cop) once threw a brick through a kid’s window.

Funny storry,

The people thats used to live in my house had a hot rod pick up(verified from my neighbor, and the automeeter stickers on the garage wall. Well the kid was 16 and he only had his permit and took his dads pick up out for joy rides all the time speeding up and down the street, the guy I bought my car from, told the kid to stop speeding, he didnt, so He practiced rolling a tire down the driveway into the street, the next time the kid came he rolled it down into the street and the kid NAILED it, and got the **** beat out of him from his dad when he found out... He also ran out of gas once and my neighbor had to help him push it back to his house...

Thats a huge negative on that one. An oradell cop threw a PBA card, that a PBA delagate gave me, right in my face. Officer says, "I dont give a **** who you know." He gave me a carelss for a "stunt in front of cool beans". Went to court and was asked what the careless was for by the judge. Told him IDK ask the officer. Officer said for his little "stunt infront of cool beans", so judge askes, "ok, what was this stunt that u did?" Told him i have no idea ask the officer. He askes the officer, officer just leaves. So i get a careless and 2 points for nothing.

For one I think is the dumbest rule in the book. For one it is easy for pedistrians to see a car coming. It is easier for a pedistrian to stop short and avoid an accident then a car. Yet even when it is the pedistrians fault, we always get the backlash. It is just bull when it comes to some of the rules that the enforce. to me this is top of the list. I mean why cant pedistrians wait to cross a damn street at a light or stop sign or even when there are no cars coming. I mean most crosswalks are in a major road or intersection. Like in Ridgewood, on the main strip there are at every ****ing corner, and during the day it can get real busy and you waiting there ofr all these damn people to cross. To me it is dumb. It is just giving the pedistrians the retard card. This rule entitles them to be careless and uncaring what the outcome is. Common Sense have left the building on this one.

to add have you EVER EVER seen a pedistrians get a jaywalking ticket, Nope never but us motorists always get the ticket for not yeilding.

if a pedestrian puts one foot in the crosswalk, you have to yield to them. the law is pretty straightforward, not a lot of interpretation can be made. you could get a lawyer and fight the ticket, but i think getting a ticket for not yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks is tantamount to getting a ticket for not keeping right on a major highway. it's just something you should program yourself to do. once you hit a pedestrian (hopefully not fatally) you will have nightmares for the rest of your life.

my only fear of driving is hitting a kid that's run out between two parked cars chasing a ball... i dread the thought of it.

yes, several people have stated that they have seen it happen or have had one themselves. i talked my way out of one in woodbury right across from the courthouse about 25 years ago. cop was a dick, but he had a point. he was controlling traffic and that included pedestrian traffic.

thinking it's dumb doesn't mean you shouldn't follow it. i am sure lots of people think a lot of the laws are dumb. that's why most people drive completely different when there is a cop in the immediate area, too.
