What's the big deal? I'm sure making a few letters will really drum up some interest. The second you say ZR-1 anyone with half a car brain knows EXACTLY what you're talking about.

I'm glad they didn't go the SS route, SS just doesn't sound right on a vette. Keep it on the other cars that already have the SS nameplates

That's my whole point The two cars have nothing to do with each other.

No? Then I guess the Camaros shouldn't be SS's, nor should the Impalas....

Well, Super Sport was put on a lot of things. Should the new Impalas be SS's? Not in my opinion. But then again, I don't feel that Neons should have 'R/T' in the name, Dodge trucks shouldn't be called 'GTX's', and the Charger shouldn't have four doors. It's all just cashing in on old ideas. I was hoping that GM would at least show some sort of creativity with it's show piece of American performance and give it something that showed that they weren't all sharing one deflating brain. The ZR-1 was used on one specific car because of the engine that was in it. I don't think GM is putting the ZR-1 motor in this so it denoted a lack of creativity. Don't get me wrong, it's a great looking and I'm sure amazing performing car, and I'd love to own one, but if they call it a ZR-1, they may as well apply the badges with Elmers glue. Upside down.

I disagree, the ZR-1 was the ultimate Vette back when it was produced. That's basically what this is sounding like it's going to be.

Hmm, I can see that point of view and it makes sense. The only problem I have then is that in retrospect, however great the ZR-1 WAS, it's quite useless today With a motor you can't find parts for, and everything costing a zillion dollars when you do I looked into a ZR-1 motor once cuz I thought it would be a cool F-Body swap. Yea. Until I found out that the only place to find any of the motor parts was Team Lola in Europe, with a crank costing $5000 and a cam set costing $3000.

By that arguement the Z06 is a misnomer because it has an LS6/LS7 and no larger fuel tank. Or the Camaro SS shouldn't have an LS1- that's historically a B-body motor.

It's all bunk. They will do whatever with whatever, history be damned unless they can ca$h in on it.

I think they should call it Stingray.

Kinda OT, but I'm in Detroit now and saw the new Malibu today in the parking lot of a diner we were having breakfast at. I was never a fan of 4 door cars, but I have to say it was pretty sweet.

Everyone thats ever owned a corvette has enjoyed it. Especially the ones that created it took pride in there work. I trust they will choose a good name. If it's a new zr1 than so be it. You will know it when it pulls away from an f-body.. lol

That would be a cool swap. Expensive, but cool.
