go to a NOPI show and watch the N/A classes or go to an air cooled VW show. there are plenty of imports out there that move without power adders.
if you wanted to be fair to the import side of the argument i would have to say, show me what a SBC can do with 2.0-2.4 liters of displacement instead of 5.7.
my point is just that the argument works both ways.

not sayng its not being done but its still more common with the american v8s...and the if an sbc had a 2.0 displacement then it wouldnt be an sbc, just cause our engines are typically bigger dosent dosent mean were not as good at engineering a sufficient engine
and tho i will probably never buy an import i can still give them their credit when they deserve it.....i can see things from all type of spectrums

they don't make small blocks with those displacement numbers anymore. try ECOTEC. very comparable, if not better, and it's made here in the united st... oh, yeah, i forgot, you don't want to hear that anymore.

ok so lets see an ecotec run 8's without a power adder...it doesnt happen. smaller motors require power adders, thats just how it is, REGARDLESS OF COUNTRY OF ORIGIN. get that through your head

I would be willing to bet that it will NEVER happen- because you need a certain amount of combustible mixture to make the required power. A 2.0-ish liter engine doesn't have the capacity to do it unless you force extra in- hence the FI.
But the ECOTEC engines are very nice. The drag version makes 1,100 horsepower and revs to 10,500 rpm.

jake look for the pro cobalts and sunfires.....they all have built ecotecs
another common swap (untill it got banned by many sanctioning bodies) was matting a ecotec with a honda k-series trans......very fast and strong setup

I started this thread because I like pontiacs that are still pontiac powered.I wouldnt consider putting a sbc in a pontiac either.I wasn't saying that you couldn't get power out of the supra motor either. You can really make anything fast with enough work.

Not trying to bust balls, but you do know that after 2nd gens Pontiacs got Chevy and Buick motors, right?

Yeah I know that they did use those motors as options and even the anniversary cars from 79 could be bought with a 403 olds , but I'm referring more to the cars that came with the 400 or 455 and people ripped them out to put a 350 chevy in them , or GTO's that had there pontiac motors replaced with a chevy motor.

People have been swapping motors since the beginning of time. Think of all of the '32 fords that were running around in the 50s with hemis or Buick nailheads between the rails. I don't really have a problem with putting a Supra motor into a Tempest.
Its kinda cool that the guy got it to work. I'd be surprised if it had enough torque to get out of its own way, but the thing probably handles a bit better without that Pontiac boat anchor planted over the front wheels; closer to 50/50.
... but a small block Ford in a first gen Camaro?!?!
That's just sick... perverted and sick.

so i am a fool. i've been called worse. i have my opinions and when the opportunity comes up to throw one out there, i usually never hold back. however, i will curb my opinion on this further, since some people have taken it so personally and respect went out the window. this argument is lost on most people anyway. they either don't care or don't know the facts (or want to know them).
one thing people should get through their heads, in general, is that people's opinions are usually rooted in strong emotion. no amount of brow-beating, chest-thumping or other inane antics will change someone's opinion to match yours. usually it takes time, facts and a civil conversation; you'll find none of that here. typically when an argument turns to name calling it's time for me to find the exit, anyway.
