So far, every 6spd auto car seems to do faster then the manual trans model.
CTS-V set the full sized peformance sedan record with an auto, not manual.
Funny that the 22hp, AFM equiped automatic ran a whole extra 3sec.
I think that thoes numbers are a bit conservative.
G8 GT's weight a little bit more are pulling out the same times with 60hp less.
My bet, Camaro SS is a solid 12 sec car, V6 is a solid high 13 sec car, at worst low 14 sec car.

I wonder what the shift time on the auto is. Must be pretty quick

Yeah, the new 6spd autos use a different system then past autos, kind of halway between a DSG and a traditonal auto.
Plus the 32bit computer that controls the trans is pretty fast.

I still can't believe the car weighs 3900 lbs! There's no reason for a "sports car" to weigh that much. I guess the production headlights weigh a lot more than they thought they would. Does it come with a full keg of beer in the back!

I wonder if those runs were using the "launch control" that was talked about briefly.....

is this true or can anyone confirm it? i always thought ss was top of the line fully loaded

Ugh...
Z28 always has been and will continue to be King. Z28 vs SS debates have raged on every site that pays homage to the Camaro.
The way I see it, Z28 was the Trans Am racer, SS was the pretty trim performance street cruiser.
Z28's "290" hp 302 could out run just about every SS save the L78 375hp 396 SS cars
Come 1970, the Trans Am rules allow larger displacement engines, in came the 350 LT-1 making 360hp for Z28 ONLY. Big Blocks were on the way out, 402's were dusted quickly by the true performance Camaro's, the Z28.
Z28 then became the only performance trim, entering IROC racing inthe late 70's to the late 90's.
Only untill SLP came buy and slapped on a hood, intake, wheels and exhaust did the SS emerge above Z28.
5th gen will settle this, and the Z28 will arrive with more power, but also much more money then the SS.
