Air pump pipes are held in by 2 bolts, remove the 10mm bolts holding the coilpack in (unless you have a 98 which each coil pack is individual) Disconnect the wires to harness easy Acess. LS1's are easier to work on. Almost any big budget shop will discriminate against LT1's and also most shops that post there prices will only post their price to work on a LS1 F-car. A few former sponsors of this site will tell you the same thing. I work with my hands everyday but i'm far from a mechanic and I have done almost everything imaginable on these LS1 cars. I have owned 7 LS1 cars and 5 LT1 cars. The LT1s were usually driven to the shop for some repairs. I even got so frustrated with my very last LT1 car i took it to the stealership to get repaired and i didn't even care about cost. That is something i would never ever do!

from someone who works on all makes and models of cars everyday... nothing is hard to work on once you figure out how they come apart... if you get frustrated that easy then thank god you aren't a mechanic.... might I ask what it was that set you off enough to take it to the dealer??

Some LS1 people seem like the most arrogant people on earth. God bless the LS1. Put it to rest already its a dinosaur motor. Theres the LS2, LS6, hell theres an LS7 and a niner in there right? LS1 and dinos. update ur motors.
|
Hey ALL the motors you mentioned are based off of the LS1........... and don't forget there is a LS3 Also 95% of these parts are interchangeable so the LS1 will live on for a LONG time
I personally have nothing against the LT1. Like i said i owned 5 of them but will never own another unless i get a LT4 97 SS and i wouldnt get rid of my LSx cars for one.

How was i frustrated easy when i never told the story?? The car was apart in my driveway for more than a week. I purchased a brand new opti and supporting parts. Installed it and car wouldn't crank over. After removing and checking things several times i gave up.Turns out I did everything right but got a defective opti from Gmpartsdirect. Also it doesn't matter how things come apart. The design of the LT1 block access to and make it harder to do certain things like running the plug wires etc. Now for those that have the Opti replacement that makes things alot easier

the 50 lbs extra from the 9in more than makes up for the tires and swaybar.

yea i actually had that happen to me on my old 93 t/a... opti went and the replacement was defective... this was before i did my own work and the mechanic i used even tried to put a new computer in it... and when that didnt work he got another opti and sure enough... i didnt have to pay for the computer though... so your not the only one... i can see how that can be frustrating... but its not the lt1's fault... it was crappy parts fault... i agree the way they run the wires is a pain... but in 93 thats all they had... im going to be running ltcc so i wont have to worry about that... tune ups will be a walk in the park... but iv done plug wires and plugs on my current car twice... and its time consuming but not hard... o and vinnie... its not our fault you kept breaking rears!!!!!!1

Try changing plug wires on an LT1 with a Powerdyne supercharger! No way to get leverage on the wires at the Opti so it took quite a while to pull them off 1 by 1. Anything done right takes time so it really doesn't make a difference what the engine is. And yes

I can remove the oil filter on both Jeeps and the Camaro with all 4 wheels on the ground without an issue.
