Removing a Crank pulley!?

How do I remove the crank pulley and balancer? Head are off the motor as well as intake and all the other front belt setup. Just cant figure out how to remove the crank pulley, it just spins the crank when I try to unbolt it, I tried using another socket on the middle bolt and tried to push one one way and the other socket the other way but it wont budge. Any tips would be awsome.
Thanks guys,
Jeremy

And if anyone local wants to give me a hand thatd be cool too!!

use a impact

then when you get the pulley off, use a harmonic balancer puller on the balancer

Dont have either of those two tools. Basic tools here.
now autozone lets you borrow the puller, but what can I do about not having an impact gun?

You can probably put a breaker bar on the flexplate to stop the crank from spinning. Good luck!

Good idea but that makes me wonder about breaking the flex plate? Is it safe?

why not just put the car in gear??? i know its automatic but it should work...i used to just jam my old tbird in 4th when doing the crank pulley. as for pullers, you can get a generic ducks foot puller for like 15 bucks...and they work on steering wheels too. just make sure the bolts are tightened down evenly....unless the crank pulley on your motor needs a jaw style puller.

If it spins when the trans is in park, what makes you think that putting it in gear will change anything . The torque converter will let the motor spin forever.

X2, all you are doing is spinning the converter and the pump, it isn't like a manual

Don't even try.....go rent a puller from Autozone or something.

I wouldn't bother with a used flat tappet cam, even with the lifters saved.

The risk of mixing something up and wiping a lobe on the cam isn't worth it IMO. Do that and it's often rebuild time
