jb weld has to stay completely dry for at least 10 hours to fully cure...overnight for best results. plus they might have to wing a few sharp objects around.....are you sure your ok with that???

Pretty sure they tried golf balls and shredded tires... only to fail and pollute the water even more

just make a huge wedding ring and slip it over the pipe. It will almost instantly stop putting out!

they dont have the smartest ppl workin on this so dont plan to see it stop anytime soon. apparently they got a saw blade stuck on one attempt and it was blockin 70% of the flow but instead of leaving it in and blocking that 70% they pulled it out. i hate engineers they go to school for all this difficult stuff only to come out with zero commen sense.

Its also annoying when people assume how easy this is.

Its a mile deep, thats not like a ball at the bottom of your pool you wanna get... you have over a ton per square inch... not exactly a cake wake to fix a leak that have more pressure behind it than that...

That oil is overcoming roughly 2400psi of water pressure.... and then ya know, its a friggen mile down...

But yea, throw some JB weld on that will work...

i didnt say i had a fix but if you have something blocking 70% of the flow y the hell would you remove it? and i realize its 5000' down i never said it was a simple fix. im just sayin the fact that they had something blocking some flow and then take it out that is retarded.

Blocking it is bad.
Stopping it from leaking into the ocean is good. Cant just screw a cap on.
There was a total failure all around on every side.

They have JB Water Weld for occasions such as that. Really I don't know why they didnt try Mighty Putty. The Great Billy Mays said it can bond even when its wet

then paint the concrete with drylock. you can paint drylock over an active leak.
