Big one is to take it to a car wash and pressure wash it.

Be careful with some of the harsh cleaners as they are no good for aluminum.

Simple green and a sponge? Mask off and paper towel where you don't wanna try to get wet? Air gun dry?

I would say no bueno. I'd start with something simple like Tide and a pressure washer.

FYI, I got confirmation that Purple power will pit aluminum, sometimes even if rinsed off.

Aluminum block? Aluminum wheel cleaner, the one that you spray on and hose off. Works great. Sometimes you need to scrub a little to get it all off.
