Lifters.
At the risk of this turning into a nonsensical thread..
I need new lifters I think.
95 LT1.
I know I can get stock replacements which would be LS7 ones, but I am looking for alternatives.
Ideas?

What makes you think you need new lifters? The LS7s are OEM replacement lifters for all LT1s now (and can handle quite a bit). I'm running them in mine.

I know they are OEM, however they also are shorter and I hate measuring PR length. Which would also mean I would need new PRs.
With a 1/2 turn pre load, I get little or no oil even after 30 seconds of idle (1000 rpm)

Well, either way you're going to have to measure unfortunately. I switched from Comp Rs to LS7s and the LS7s were in the hole about .050" deeper. Is this on a new build or what? Usually it takes quite awhile to get oil to the upper valvetrain on new lifters/pushrods. On my motor, it took almost 3 minutes of priming before they were pumped up enough (and that's with the Melling 10552 pump).
Oil won't squirt out of the pushrods. It should barely dribble out, so what you are seeing may be normal.

IDK, this is on an engine that is daily driven, so its not like first fire up woes.

aren't there caddy lifters or something too?
edit: if they are stock replacement, wouldn't they retain stock/current pushrod length? unless you are switching from an aftermarket set i guess.

Nope, stock replacement are some like .020 shorter in the cup that LT1s are.

Was reading online, that even if you bring it to a dealer for work, they just swap lifters too... so I am not sure.

Yeah .020 probably won't hurt you, on a DD. Lifter problems are pretty rare, you sure they are bad? You would also definatley here an audible tapping if it was shot

Eh, it was more of me wanting a peace of mind. Stock lifters from 1995 with 75k miles on em, should have been replaced when the cam was out.

75k isn't bad at all for hydraulic roller lifters. Even at that they shouldn't all go bad at once.

And when the intake off, I can just adjust each valve when the lifter is on base circle right?

Yea, did that, neglected to tighten poly locks on two rockers. Took it apart in the rain, on the parkway. Fun.

Save your money your lifters are fine... It's normal for engines to do what you describe. Let it run for a few minutes and warm up, before you know it oil will be everywhere

I've run a few sets of COMP R's in different motors with no problems, you just need to make sure you don't put the lash more then 1/th turn. The take very little preload. The Morels are suppose to be very good as well.
What is you oil pressure, and what weight oil are you running?

60psi at a cold idle, 20 at a hot idle. 10W30 synthetic. I ended up getting LS7s. They are in and it runs well. I got my peace of mind.

They looked like lifters and so far have been acting like lifters.
2nd engine I installed a set in, both engines are doing well so far...
