I did a thing.

I passed on buying this car a while back when it was at my buddys shop. Car was set up with a T-56 and procharger. The driveline was removed and swapped into a 2nd get T/a from what i understand. The car was bought before i could make room for it or anything so whatever.

Fast forward 4 months to last week, the car is for sale again. A quick ride to Yonkers, NY to make sure everything is good to go bout the car and after some :bertstare::bertstare::bertstare: the car is in my driveway.

1999 NBM w. Tan Interior Z28
LS1
T56

Car Has:
UMI 3 Point SFC
UMI LCAs
UMI LCA Relocation Brackets
UMI Adjustable TQ Arm
UMI Adjustable Panhard Bar
"Built Rear"

This "Built" rear is a 10 bolt. So far all i can tell about it is that it has a TA Girdle cover thing, and Extended wheel studs.

Not really sure wear i plan on heading with this. Auto or Stick is still up in the air with auto being in the lead by a significant amount. Also want to swap out the Tan gut... and the ZR1 Wheels.

Most likely its going to end up being a "Cam Only" build but who knows.

Theres some other issues that need to be addressed before that. Such as the lack of gas tank.

But anyway...

I dont mind the seats all that much... the carpet is what kills me. I have a black carpet from my 01 Z, so maybe ill run the black carpet with the tan seats and see how it looks.

But seriously, after sitting in the car for a minute yesterday im not sure about the black on tan.

this is what i was imagining it would look like..

The issue I'd see is you'd then have a trio of colors between your carpet, seats, and panels.

If it's a t56 car you will need a dash harness from n auto car as well as some type of plate to cover the hole from the t56 shifter. Only the rear 2 bolts will line up and the front of the shifter will hang down into the hole.

I don't remember 100% of all the issues, I just know my father and I traced wires for a few days before we got it started. Having the dash harness makes it plug and play and much earlier/cleaner IMO.

I checked again last night and upon inspection, there were connectors shoved inside the firewall. I also pulled the radio area faceplate off and there was wires going to the foglamp n Traction switch.

Anyone got a pic of what the dash harness plugs look like just so i can confirm?

since i have no self control i needed to do this.

I currently have a LS6 intake and P&P TB for my car, the BLS in me wants to spend the extra $ and go with a FAST right out the box, but with the heads i will be running on the car the extra money for the fast would be better applied to something else. Like actually having an engine. :-?

So in an effort to prevent me from selling my LS6 for less than i paid for it and spending an additional $900 on a intake and TB....

But its going to be tucked under a cowl and in the hood so im okay with it. the High fill primer worked, but it didnt completely eliminate the "grainy" surface of the manifold, so the tape lines arent perfect. but there good. Minor update:

Pushed the car up the street from my house to my garage so i can start doing some stuff.

This week ill get the 6 speed stuff(Pedals, master, console, ect) out of the car and throw the A4 pedals in while im there. Still looking for a A4 center console if anyone got.

Also, i like the look of LT1 tails over LS1 tails so i scored a set of nicely tinted LT1 tails from Adam with a hand off from BLS, threw those on.

I swapped out the berger for a satin black one i had from a past car. I want to preserve the NBM one. Also Kirk was nice enough to gift me a gloss black one, so ill be tossing that on shortly just to compare how i like Blue vs Gloss vs Satin.

Didnt really "Clean" the car, but i hosed off the dust and dirt. Really like this color, and it looks purple in certain light which is perfect:bertstare:

Besides the huge cut out front grill area for the intercooler of past, theres a lot of spider cracks and what not, so ill have my eyes peeled for a NBM front bumper for the right price. If not ill deal with it.

I went back and forth with it and decided that the money I would spend n them would be better applied elsewhere.

If your swapping your car to 6 speed and would be willing to swap out your A4 console for my M6 console id be okay with that

Without the rest of the parts... I'd be stuck with no center console.

Here is my solution to ballin' valve covers not being cost effective at this time.

$7 can of VHT Wrinkle black and $38 billet coil brackets

Not as "Wrinkley" as a power job would be, but it like it better than just flat black. Its deff got some texture to it.

Ive painted small parts on my jeep with it before. What i did was follow the instructions on the can. Which is 3 heavy coats one right after another. 1 coat side to side, 1 coat up and down, and 1 coat on a a diagonal. It goes on smooth and when it cures it get the texture. The 3 direction coating makes it wrinkle in a few directions, thus a better finish.

I threw them in the oven for 20 mins @ 200 right after laying the paint down.

Its time to get rid of the huge ugly box in my engine bay.

from the start of this project i knew AC wasnt going to make its way into the car, so let the games begin.

Obviously the "book" way to do its to pull the dash out and remove it from the inside and then mount the plate from the inside. I, do not want to do that. But i will if absolutely needed. Ive seen a ton of pictures of ones that look like they are mounted from the outside though.

like so.

http://www.fquick.com/images/vehicles/full/29353371540.jpg

Most of images are missing from those threads so i cant be sure how it was done, but from the looks of it and reading some of it im 95% sure they AC box was cut back to the firewall, a template was made and cut. and then it was bolted up to the firewall from the outside(i would image with some sort of bead of sealer on it as well)

That is what i want to do.

Im also not 100% dead set to have heat in the car, but from the looks of it all i really need is 2 heater hoses and a vacuum line to come threw the panel. Like this, seems simple enough.

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m129/the_merv/ACDELETEPANEL.jpg (http://s103.photobucket.com/user/the_merv/media/ACDELETEPANEL.jpg.html)

Anyone do it this way? or am i the only heathen whos giant hands dont like working with interior things?

LS1ow

I quick hunt on the internet provided me results.

Looks like this grade A american did exacting what i want to do.

1.Trimmed it back to the firewall from the outside
(im very good at cutting things, you guys should know this by now)

2. Trimmed a path for the air to get to the blower motor, and then covered the cuts in bubble gum.

3. Cut out a a piece of metal and blocked it off from the outside.

If memory serves me right, there are bolts on both the engine bay side and the dash side. The box is removed through the interior, so the dash must be removed.

I strongly advise against hax0rs & urge you to show a little restraint. Besides, think of the weight reduction! There are nice delete plates out there as well. I think Kohler has one.

Remove the dash. If you're making the delete plate yourself the cut edges and finish will be better hidden installing it from the inside. Just take your time lifting the dash pad, ls1 pads aren't that hard to remove. Keep heat for the defroster. The block off plate blocks the air passage to the blower, so you will need to cut a path and make a sheet metal block off to close the interior cut...or body filler like the pics you posted. I think I had a bunch of pics in an old thread here doing all this

Just to make it easier i threw some tape on the ports.

Asking again to be sure, the ports that are taped with the Blue tape are to be blocked off, and the port taped with the light green tape is to be vented to atmosphere via a small vent valve air filter. Correct ?

sweetbmxrider

Green tape is over-pressure relief valve. Looks like its just a hose that runs off of that and points towards ground. Blue tape you can plug or loop, its evap ports. There is an additional port on the sending unit for evap. Plug or vent, your choice. Technically the green tape valve should relieve pressure from tank.

Lets talk cruise control/Traction Control delete.

Is it as easy as just removing all the junk under the hood and getting a throttle cable from a non cruise car ? Not that im super crazy about cleaning up the engine bay, but its never going to be used. so i may as well toss it.

Jersey Mike

More or less, yeah.
Box is on the passenger side frame rail. New non-TCS cable is shorter. Attach all the things. Remove annoying bulb for TCS light in gauge cluster.

It would be a little obnoxious if you eliminated A/C but kept TCS/Cruise.

Nice. Wasnt sure if there was more to it than eliminate and get new cable. And im thinking tuner, or at least nishan, should be able to remove the signal for the light.

And yeah, i planned on scrapping the TCS/Cruise the whole time, but i just wanted to get everything in order before i was to rip it out and toss it only to find i needed something.

this isnt going to be addressed anytime soon, but obviously just as any camaro owner, im looking to swap out the flat Z wing for something else. While i do love the SS spoiler, everyone has one. I did have the freedom designs big honkin duckbill on 1 of my cars, but its just to much i think. And im not a fan of the lines on the 3 piece RS body kit spoiler, and that 6LE aggressive spoiler is to much imo. I dont like how its notched in the middle.

So i stumbled upon this.

Has anyone ever seen this before? the Z07 packages come with a similar wickerbill set up, and im not sure if the ZL1/Z28 does as well. But ive deff never seen anything like it on a 4th gen.

What im really concerned with is how its mounted. If its only those few bolts i dont see this thing lasting at speeds more than 100.

what do you guys think?

On your since it would be on the track I'll send u the bolts that are on that picture basically when u take off the spoiler there a hole on each corner and u basically install the bolts so to tighten it would be with a rachet so it's your standard heavy duty bolt and lock seal nut. . Same with the middle bolts. Basiclyy on the middle ones you unscrew the screw that holds the light in place and u get a drill bit the size of the bolt and drill threw it. Make a pre-made hold on the bottom so u can insert the nut and I give u seals to cover up that hole and that's pretty much it.

-got the email from racestar, rear wheels have been shipped so they should be here sometime this week

-Pulled the fenders bumper and hood of the car. Originally i was just going to pull only the bumper in an effort to create more walking space around the car once i move it inside my garage. But then i figured the fenders are easy enough to pull so ill do those too so they dont get scratched and stuff, which lead to why not pull the hood for maximum work room as well. Hopefully by end of the weekend ill push it in the garage so i have heat to work in during these next few months. And Gramma Beggs gets her driveway back.

-Going to remove all the unneeded stuff from the bay such as cruise, HVAC and ABS and then hit it with some satin black.

-since the fenders and bumper are off im going to remove some weight. Nothing to extreme. I plan on leaving the shock towers whole but i will be removing some of the unneeded meat from behind the fenders and as well as removing the front bumper support in favor of a tubular unit that ill fab up.

 Everything is easy to ruin remove. Enjoy working on those panel gaps.

This will save you maybe 20 pounds. Do you really think you're going to feel a huge benefit from that? Leave them on and pick up a copy of Atkins instead

Saves way more than 20. Closer to 50 after both fenders and the bumper support is gone. Tubular one should come in less than 5lbs and it's honestly only to keep the bumper from sagging

I've been looking at that, maybe down the road. For now I'm going to do everything I can without digging into the wallet.

Any tips or tricks you did to your?

I hate Mike.

Same. He can keep the smooth driving perfect panel gap safe driving nonsense in his own thread !

I got the whole hatch with the lexan glass in it. I removed the impact bar, tubular k member, no power steering pump or AC. Other then that my car has everything else. I still have the heater box in for now. Didn't get to take it out yet.

How is it with no PS? My fox had an iron 351 in it and I didn't have PS and if wasn't that bad. I was on big and little all the time though. This car I'll have a normal wheel and tire set up on it mostly.

Had the stock rack looped, with 4.5s, was fine for me. Now I have 3.5s and manual rack. I actually like the stock rack better so far.
